Sustainability at Raynham
Our commitment to regenerative stewardship
Raynham Estate is dedicated to long-term environmental health through thoughtful land management, habitat restoration and responsible farming. From rewilding and renewable energy to reduced chemical inputs, every decision supports the land and its ecosystems.
- Each year, we sow 45 acres of wild bird seed and 35 acres of nectar and pollen mixes across the farm.
- Six miles of the River Wensum, a chalk stream and Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), flow through the estate. It is one of just 16 rivers in England designated as a European Special Area of Conservation.
- In 2025, we planted 4,500 additional native trees, with more to come.
- Over 1,000 acres of cover crops are sown throughout the winter months to protect and enrich the soil.
- Ten thousand bees currently reside on the estate, with numbers set to rise to 50,000.
- Five acres of long grasses and wildflowers are maintained at Wild Meadow.
- The estate is home to a 225-acre solar farm generating 48,153 MWh of electricity, providing enough clean energy to power 14,000 households and offsetting 21,460 tonnes of COâ‚‚ each year.
- We use 40,000 tonnes of digestate from our on-site AD plant as an organic fertiliser, improving soil health, structure and crop yields. This has enabled a 50% reduction in artificial fertiliser use and a 20% cut in chemical inputs, with further reductions planned.
